New Delhi [India], June 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday introduced that his authorities will prolong until finish of November, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, underneath which foodgrains are being supplied to the poor and needy.
“From July the competition seasons begin, Guru Purnima will likely be celebrated on July 5. Following this, the month of Saawan will begin. On this season of festivals, the wants and bills of all will increase. Conserving this in thoughts, the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana has been prolonged until Diwali and Chatth Puja, i.e until the top of November,” the Prime Minister mentioned.
“The scheme will present 80 crore individuals with free grains, will now be relevant in July, August, September, October and November too. The federal government, throughout these 5 months, will give every member of the family 5-kilogram wheat or 5 kilogram rice freed from value, other than this every household will get free one kg of chana (chick peas) too each month,” he added.
The Prime Minister additional mentioned that the extension of this scheme would require a further expense of Rs 90 thousand crore.
“If we add the bills incurred throughout the previous three months then it totals to round Rs 1.5 lakh crore,” he additional mentioned.
The scheme was introduced by the Centre as a part of the primary rescue package deal throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme ends on June 30.
The scheme, introduced for a 3 month interval, lined 80 crore ration cardholders. Every family was supplied 5 kg of meals grains (rice or wheat) and 1 kg of pulses (solely channa) freed from value. Already, 21 states — each BJP-ruled and Opposition-led governments — had appealed to the Centre to increase the scheme for an additional three months until September.
